Integrating Lean Six Sigma and Project Management Patrice Freeland is an IT Project Manager and Lean Six Sigma Black Belt that has worked in various industries for businesses large and small. For her talk, she will discuss the integration of Lean Six Sigma and Project Management. To start, she will share information on the basics of achieving process efficiency through Lean and defect reduction through Six Sigma by "letting the data drive you". She will touch on some of the most common tools used in both disciplines and discuss how they work together. Patrice will also talk about how to integrate Lean and Six Sigma with the PMI Process Groups and Knowledge Areas that we are already familiar with. About our speaker: Patrice Freeland, PMP, is an IT Project Manager for General Electric's Drives and Controls site in Salem, VA. The Drives and Controls plant provides a full end-to-end turbine control solution from initial engineering design to full product build including circuit card and sheet metal component manufacturing. This dynamic environment has provided Patrice opportunities to manage a wide variety of IT projects ranging from full machine, dataflow and process re-engineering for sheet metal manufacturing; fully automated part labeling; quality non-conformance recording; and ERP replacement to physical site security. Patrice is also a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt and member of the Project Management Office for the GE Power business. She conducts project audits and approvals for major IT projects across all global Power sites. As LSS BB, she is responsible for training and mentoring future LSS Green Belts by instilling the concepts of efficiency through Lean and defect reduction through data-driven project definition, execution and control through Six Sigma methodologies. Prior to coming to GE, Patrice has held Project Manager and IT Manager positions at Executive Talent Search, Medical Facilities of America and Baker Roofing Company. She holds a B.A. in Computer Information Systems with a Minor in Art from Mary Baldwin College and organizational leadership positions at GE for the Women's Network, HealthAhead program and Toastmasters. Patrice is also a Wellness Advocate and team leader with doTERRA where she provides essential oils and products for natural living.
