Topic: Six Sigma Tools in the World of Lean, Agile, Scrum, and SAFedonnie

Speaker: Donnie Havens, PMP

Agenda:

6:00 – 6:45 – Dinner at Moody Hall
6:45 – 7:00 – Chapter Business - Wetherill Visual Arts Center
7:00 – 8:00 – Speaker/Presentation

Presentation Content:

You can't swing a bag of door knobs today without hitting someone who uses Lean, Agile, Scrum, SAFe, or any number of 'new' principles for getting work done.  In reality, this is not all new.  It started with Six Sigma in Hawthorne Illinois in the 1920's and then grew in Japan as they rebuilt after WWII in the 1940's.  But it took Motorola in the 80's and Jack Welch at GE in the 90's to really establish the concept and principles that we now know as Lean and Agile.

So if you want to learn how to apply statistical analysis to get your production or processes to 3.4 defects per million opportunities, buy a book because that part of Six Sigma is boring.

If you want to learn more about the tools and techniques that have proven effective since 1920 for improving process, root causing, and getting things done, then join us on September 12th as Donnie Havens takes some of his favorite Six Sigma tools and helps us apply them to everyday business.

Speaker Bio:

Donnie Havens is currently the IT Project Manager for The Branch Group, IT Consultant for Stone Mountain Advisers, and Board Member for Cave Spring Rec Foundation.

Donnie's technology career started with Assa Abloy working on physical security software as part of an insane band of international developers.  But after a bad experience in Swedish Customs, Donnie moved to Advance Auto Parts where he was central in the PMO process for Application Development and the CarQuest employee integration during which he was made notorious by a 13 hour conference call.  Donnie holds his PMP in mostly good standings, is a Six Sigma Green Belt, and plays defense on the local old man lacrosse team.  He hunts, fishes, camps, brews (and drinks) his own beer, and helps raise 4 kids, two cats, and a dog along with his wonderful wife Jennifer who mostly tolerates his antics.
