Jay Benigno

 

Jay Benigno has been involved in Project Management in one form or another since high school. In his current role as a Senior Logistics Engineer at Elizabeth Arden, he leads large productivity enhancement projects for this well-known consumer products company. He has 13+ years’ of “official” PM experience managing a variety of productivity and cost-saving projects for major corporations. His project work includes supply chain optimization, procurement and implementation of major service providers, and continuous process improvement. He earned his B.S. in Management from University of Maryland and has been a PMP since 2010.

Kirk Olinger

Kirk is passionate about project management and has recently been active in the local PMI-SWVA chapter assisting with the 2011 Project Management Symposium. Kirk has a varied and diversified background: He has experience as a greens-keeper, public address announcer, touring musician, translator, programmer, systems developer, manager, clinical researcher and now a PMP.  

Kirk has been employed by Carilion Clinic since 1995 and has been the lead project manager on many key clinical and business information systems.  Born and raised in New Market, Virginia, his first passion was for music and performance.   He earned a BS in Music Education from Shenandoah University in 1988. He moved to Germany and in 1992 he earned a German “BS” in Computer Science and Economics from the HandwerksKammer Oberfranken.  Kirk moved back to the US in 1995. In 2000 he received his MBA from Radford University. He has been a PMP since December of 2008.

Darryl Agee

Darryl Agee has been active with the SW Virginia PMI Chapter as the VP of Programs for the last four years.  He is currently a project manager for Manhattan Associates.  Previously, he was a project manager for Advance Auto Parts, working on projects and technology in Advance’s supply-chain and store systems development groups.  His project management experience began with a seven year U.S. Air Force career as a commissioned officer, working on aircraft simulators and training systems.  He then spent five years in Colorado working for the City of Aurora (a suburb of Denver) in city government.  He and his family returned to Roanoke in 1998, where he worked for Aramark (Crest Uniforms) and Carilion Clinic in systems and application analysts and project management positions.

Darryl became a PMP in January of 2006 and holds an MBA from Auburn University at Montgomery, MS in Computer Info Systems from the University of Phoenix, and BA in English from the Virginia Military Institute.  His free time is spent teaching the PMP Prep course at Virginia Western Community College.  He and his family live on Bent Mountain.

Paige Kanode

 

Paige Kanode has been a member of PMI SWVA since 2012. She served as a director at large from 2013-2014 and is the current VP of Professional Development. She is passionate about spreading the knowledge of project management and providing learning opportunities for the chapter members. She is excited to be planning this year’s symposium and hopes to provide a quality program that attendees will be able to apply in their roles. She is currently a project manager for the point of sale team at Advance Auto Parts.  She has more than 10 years’ experience in IT in various roles from developer to business analyst to project manager. Paige is married and has two boys, eighteen and sixteen years old, two spoiled beagles and two rotten cats. Both of her sons are avid soccer players so many of her weekends and evenings are spent cheering them on from the sidelines.

Jon Nedell

Jon Nedell is a Services Project Manager for Manhattan Associates. He is a high-performing, results-driven project/program manager with a proven track record of successfully managing multiple projects and project teams simultaneously to deliver innovative, cost-effective solutions and met/exceed requirements.  Jon has worked for AIG United Guaranty, Harris Corporation, Lash Group Healthcare Consultants, and IBM Corporation. He spent many years in a variety of roles in both domestic and international markets with IBM and has strong experience and in-depth, cross functional business knowledge across virtually every functional area of the organization; such as, supply chain management, international customer operations, new product development, sales support, product marketing and strategic planning.

He is PMP certified and received his MBA from Wake Forest University in their Executive Program, was an APICS Certified Supply Chain Professional as well as a board certified ISO auditor and have IBM management experience and training.  Jon has a wife of 20+ years and resides in the Winston-Salem area. Their son entered Hampden-Sydney College in August. He enjoys church, family, golf, tennis and the beach. Jon was an active member in Toastmasters International in the Lynchburg, VA club where he completed his Competent Communicator training.

Carolyn Day

 

VP-Technology 2015-2016 Becky Fleitz Becky is an accomplished IT professional with senior level Project Management experience implementing all life cycle phase of major technology solutions. She has over 10 years of experience in project management, systems and business analysis in the retail and healthcare industries.  She is currently a Sr. IT Project Manager / Program Manager for the Supply Chain Systems Development team at Advance Auto Parts where she is managing large cross-departmental projects. She also owns an allstar cheerleading business and manages the day to day operations where she is able to apply many aspects of project management.  Becky has been a member of PMI and the SWVA chapter since 2011. She obtained her Project Management Professional (PMP) certification in April of that same year. She has participated in several volunteer and professional activities with the chapter which has fueled an interest in becoming a PMI board member, including the SWVA PMI Symposium and PMI Habitat for Humanity build.

Mitzi Steele

Mitzi Steele has been member of PMI since 2013. She served as Director at Large (DAL) in 2015 and elected to VP - Administration in May 2015.  Mitzi has more than 30 years combined experience in project management, business analysis, software development and information technology consulting.  Mitzi became PMP certified in 2014 as well as has BA and MaED degrees from Virginia Tech.  Currently, Mitzi is employed at Roanoke College as a Database Director.   Mitzi loves to learn and expand her knowledge and looks forward to being part of the Southwest Virginia PMI team.  Mitzi has dispersed family with husband currently living in Atlanta, and two sons where one lives in Richmond and other son lives in Arlington.

Kristen Gorman

 

Kristen Gorman is a new member to both PMI and our local chapter.  She join soon after graduating college in 2013 with a BS in Industrial & Systems Engineering from Virginia Tech.  As a Director-at-Large, she hopes to assist all board members as needed with a focus of helping put on a fantastic symposium.  She currently works at Carilion Clinic within the Center for Innovation department doing throughput analysis and project management work with the Care Management team.  This is an exciting and new role for her that she hopes with help with her development.  Outside of the professional world, she is an avid runner with 6 half marathons and running her first full in November of 2015.  She also loves to rock climb, hike and snow ski!  She looks forward to working with the wonderful members of our chapter.

Lori Teubert

Lori Teubert has been PMP certified and a member of PMI since 2013.  She is currently serving in a Director at Large role for the Southwest Virginia PMI board .  Lori has over 17 years combined working experience in management, leadership development, process improvement, and project management.  She has her BA degree in Athletic Training/Biology from Salem International University and is currently employed by Carilion Clinic as the Director of Surgical Services at Carilion New River Valley hospital.  Lori is actively working on her Masters of Science in Health Administration (MSHA) from Trident University International.
