July Chapter Meeting Highlights (It was Great!)
This was a first time for this new venue for our July chapter meeting and the consensus was it was a bell-ringer. PMI-SWVA Board of Directors member Darryl Agee hit a homerun with selection and procurement of A Few Old Goats Brewing for our event.
Located at 515 8 th St., just a couple blocks from Downtown Roanoke, and on the edge of the West End and Old Southwest neighborhoods, the brewery offers convenient parking, outstanding brews, and generous, dog friendly, areas to socialize both in-doors and out.
With the intent of this meeting being a relaxed networking/fun event, we began with networking and networking we did! We had more than a handful of first-time attendees, several folks newly relocated to our area and in the midst of a career search, and representation from a large variety of area business and industries. I am confident that we all left having made several great new friends as well as industry connections and support.
In addition to good pizza, great craft beers, and excellent comradery, Paige Kanode, our 2019 President lead us in a hilarious yet serious round of PMI/Goat/beer trivia with questions ranging from “what are the outputs of develop project charter?” and “name the three areas of expertise in the PMI triangle” to “how often do you trim your goats hooves?” and “what is a family of goats called?”, (that’s a tribe by the way, who knew?).
What made our meeting best was all of you who came out to join in the fun and support for each other in the craft of project management. I want to personally thank A Few Old Goats, Paige, Darryl, and David Rakes for helping to put this together for PMI-SWVA and we want to thank you all for joining us and making this event a great success.
