December Chapter Meeting
Our December chapter meeting took place at the Shenandoah Club in downtown Roanoke. This beautiful venue helped us celebrate our successful year as a PMI chapter. We started with a formal sit down dinner and then our chapter President provided us with our year in review. She highlighted the several new types of events we hosted in 2019 including company tours, trivia, Project Management “speed dating”, a night at a brewery, and hosting our first sold-out symposium; all of this leading to our membership being up 10%! With 2020 around the corner she also told us about the new logo coming our way, virtual meetings on the horizon, and introduced our 2020 board!
Following our year review, we recognized several people who have helped make our chapter successful in 2019 including Reagan Farris and Kristen Gorman for Service to the Chapter, Special Recognition for Darryl Agee, Volunteer of the Year Megan Adkins, and the David J Williamson award was presented to Mike Womack.
After awards, we had the opportunity to hear from Laura Wade from Thrive by Heart. She spoke on helping Project Managers focus on what really matters with Intention, Attention, and with No Tension. She gave us practical tools and tips to help manage our lives and jobs as well as discover our passions and live fulfilled.
In the spirit of the holidays, we closed with a gift raffle sponsored by several local Roanoke businesses! It was a wonderful way to celebrate an amazing year as a PMI Chapter.
