2016 Year End Review - President's Message
Dear PMI-SWVA,
For those of you that were unable to attend last night’s December chapter meeting, I want to summarize the chapter’s many accomplishments in 2016 so that you can celebrate what we achieved together. These achievements include but are not limited to the following:
· Increased Chapter Membership by Approximately 4%
o Reached our Highest Membership Level Ever with 274 Members
o Continue to Maintain a Very High Percentage of Credentialed Members at Approximately 80% or (218 Members)
· Offered Opportunities for Credentialed Attendees to Earn 17 PDUs
o Credentialed Presenters Could Earn Even More
· Delivered an Excellent Value Fall Symposium (8 PDUs)
o The Cost to Quality Ratio is best in PMI’s Region 5 and possibly in North America
· Improved Member Engagement
o Made Better Use of Social Media (Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter), eBlasts, and the Chapter Website;
o Offered Two Networking Events during the Summer
· Demonstrated Innovation in Event Content, Formats, and Venues
· Improved Outreach – Geographic; Academia (Hollins University, Roanoke College, Liberty University, Virginia Tech)
· Ratified New By Laws
· Represented the Chapter at PMI’s Region 5 and North America Leadership Conferences
· Improved Sponsorship Engagement
· Vastly Improved Chapter-internal Financial Management and Banking Practices
o Maintained a Steady 12-18 Month Reserve Balance
Please congratulate the following individuals that received special awards and recognition for their significant contributions to the chapter in 2016.
· Ragan Farris
o Service to Chapter Award - For her work on vastly improving and simplifying the banking and financial management function of the chapter.
· Kristen Gorman
o Special Recognition Award - For her help with the last two annual symposiums, social media support, and stepping into the VP of Professional Development role for next year.
· Paige Kanode
o David J. Williamson Award - For sustained contribution to the chapter year after year.
· LeAta Jackson
o Volunteer of the Year Award - For her extraordinary work on the Symposium. LeAta helped with sponsorship and led the networking activities for the last two years.
Lastly, thank you to all the other Symposium and Chapter Volunteers, Contributors, Committee Members, Leaders, Sponsors, and especially our Members for your dedication, hard work, and support of the PMI-SWVA Chapter this year. I truly hope you all enjoy the upcoming holidays with your families and friends and I look forward to a great 2017.
