February Chapter Meeting - Roanoke

Date: February 12th, 2019
Location: GE, 1501 Roanoke Blvd. Salem, VA
Time: 6-8:30pm

Topic: Project Management Hacking
Speaker: Doug Martin PMP, PMI-ACP, CSM, CSP, M.P.M.

Doug Martin will discuss topics covered in his upcoming book “Project Management Hacking” (this is a working title).

Nobody utilizes all the processes within the PMBOK on every project they manage, but there is virtually zero practical guidance on how to direct the limited time and energy a project manager possesses towards the activities that drive project success and what can safely be ignored. The discussion will lay out a framework that outlines the standard path – what conventional wisdom tells us, the evil path – what naughty project managers do when they feel stressed, and the hacker path – how to get things done that matter and leave at a reasonable hour.

The discussion will cover some of the major points in the forthcoming book. Our time will be informative, entertaining, and will include some opportunities to laugh at situations every project manager faces yet is left alone to figure out how to handle the challenge.
