Topic: What You Need to Know About Marketing in 2018

Speaker Bio:

treva carterTreva Carter is President of TJ Carter Consulting.     

Before becoming a consultant in 2013, Treva worked at Lumos Networks, SFCS Architects, ITT Night Vision (now Harris) and BellSouth Communications Systems.  All of those corporate marketing positions included communications as well as public relations and event planning responsibilities. Social media reporting was part of her role at Lumos Networks.

Treva wrote responses to RFPs, prepared interview PowerPoints and represented the firm at conferences for SFCS, as well as providing website and other copy. At ITT Night Vision and BellSouth, she managed email and website campaigns, oversaw departmental budgets and worked with creative firms on advertising, collateral, and direct mail projects.

During the first half of Treva's career, she worked at advertising and public relations firms – the Packett Group (now ndp), Arnold Finnegan Martin, and John Lambert Associates - as an account executive, media buyer and marketing research director. Her 30+ years of experience have honed her skills as a liaison between clients and creative firms.

Treva is active in the Rotary Club of Salem, the Roanoke-Blacksburg Technology Council, and the Salem Museum & Historical Society. She serves on the Alumni Advisory Board for the College of Liberal Arts & Human Sciences at Virginia Tech, where she received a B.A. with Honors in History and a secondary focus on Marketing.

Presentation Content:

Treva Carter, a marketing consultant, will share how social media and other forms of online communication have revolutionized marketing in the last ten years. She will discuss the importance of content marketing and cause marketing.

She'll share marketing research results on the most popular marketing channels and tactics, in case you're looking for benchmarks.

She'll remind us of some basic marketing tools that are just as important as they ever were. And she will share tips on how to work with marketing staffs or marketing agencies if we don’t do our firms’ marketing personally.
